Brentwood School Plan Approved

The Brentwood School has passed the next to final hurdle toward approval of their plan for improvements to their two campuses. The City of Los Angeles Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) team approved traffic restrictions and mitigations suggested by the area council office, which will require reductions in current traffic levels regardless of enrollment. The Brentwood Homeowners Association (BHA) and immediate neighbors (RNBA) negotiated for almost a decade to impose restrictions on construction and operations, which culminated in an enforceable agreement with substantial financial penalties for non-compliance. The private agreement is more restrictive in many ways than a City-issued Conditional Use Permit.

The BHA is not in the position of approving development projects, but works to mitigate the impacts to the community in the most reasonable and tangible ways. We do support or oppose some projects based on input from our members, but ultimately, the City Planning Department and City Council decide on approvals.

The Brentwood School project has no designated start date at this time. It is possible the Archer School project will begin this summer.
