Message From LAPD

December 6, 2017     Skirball Fire Advisement

Hello Brentwood Community,

If you reside or work within the Brentwood vicinity WEST of the 405 freeway, South of Mullholland, North of Sunset, and East of Old Ranch Road, including all residents of the Westridge and Mandeville Canyons, we are asking you to be prepared for evacuation in the very likely event that the winds change direction this afternoon/evening.  We are receiving information from the Fire Department that it is very likely that the winds will shift tonight, sending embers westward.

Please take all measures to be ready to leave your home at a moment’s notice if Emergency Personnel/First Responders come knocking on your door to evacuate.  That means that your important papers and photos and medicines are packed and ready to go.  It means that your car(s) are gassed and ready to go.  Your animals are ready and crated and you have food for them.  It means that your family has a plan.  It is important to keep in mind that cell phone service may become inoperable if things get bad and it may be impossible to coordinate with loved ones.  So please talk and plan NOW.  Please check on your neighbors, particularly the elderly.  And please help disseminate this flyer and information to your neighbors.

Westwood Recreation Center (1350 S. Sepulveda Blvd.) and Cheviot Hills Recreation Center (2551 Motor Ave.) serve as evacuation sites.  The Red Cross is already there providing support and services.

We are deploying squads in all the above-mentioned vicinities to monitor and provide high visibility extra patrol.  Lastly, if we ask you to leave, LEAVE.  There is no property worth the safety of you or your family.
Best of luck, Maria
